The Sharavathi Dental College and Hospital came into being the under the Sharavathi Education Trust at Shimoga in 1992 and is approved by Dental Council of India.

Leaders and educationalists of the District came together and formed this trust with the objective to fulfill the dreams of people of Shimoga to have a comprehensive health education institute in the city. The Government of Karnataka permitted the Trust to inaugurate the Sharavathi Dental College & Hospital and consequently, schools of paramedics and nursing, which, under the trust have reached the heights of medical excellence.
